Lincoln Television Commercial - 1992

by nedsparks (Category: Autos & Vehicles)

This commercial was made to mark the 70th anniversary of Ford’s takeover of the Lincoln Motor Company in 1922.
The advertising agency filmed the vintage cars around the beautiful Beaux-Arts Opera House in San Francisco’s Civic Center.
Even though the agency had contracted owners of older and rare examples of early Lincolns, they chose to do close-ups of the 1930 sedan (you will see the trademark greyhound radiator cap designed by Gorham), which opens the commercial.
Other cars seen include an early Continental and a Zephyr, lower-priced cars that were produced to offset the huge losses caused by the manufacture of the luxury Lincolns, models L and K and KB.
This commercial was produced before Lincoln lost all class by manufacturing a station-wagon-like sport utility vehicle, the Navigator.
Next thing you know, Cadillac will do something just as ridiculous.
